Activity Vs. Productivity – Doing it all but getting nothing done.

“You’ve got to think about big things while you’re doing small things so that all the small things go in the right direction.” – Alvin Toffler
While you might think ” Doesn’t being active mean I’m making movements and being productive?” – meh, not really.
The problem is too many times people confuse these for the same thing, when in reality – they are actually entirely different!
How so? Well, let’s break it down.
The major difference between Active People and Productive People lies in the effectiveness of the actions we’re taking and how well these actions produce results that are goal oriented.
Active People are constantly taking on tasks and projects that keep them busy, but don’t really align with a goal they are trying to achieve, so at the end of a busy day, you’re burnt out, exhausted and feeling like you didn’t really get much done.
While adding a ton of tasks to their to-do list, active people notice they run out of time to do the really important things – because they were busy filling their day up, not separating tasks by priority and importance.
Productive people on the other hand understand the importance of high-value projects and focus their energy on the projects that are relevant to their progress. They are good at managing their time and prioritizing tasks by importance and allowing themselves time to rest and avoid burnout.
Working hard and being productive are not the same. At the end of the day, how much of your goal have you achieved, and did you get the most value out of the actions you took?
